Shelter/Foster Care
The need for safe shelter and housing of trafficked victims is one of the most important aspects in the steps of recovery that victims require. Currently there are no government agencies or departments that are providing shelter for victims of trafficking. This means that the housing needed must come from the private and non-profit community until other resources are made available.
OATH has partnered with quality local organizations that provide temporary emergency bed space, some with wrap around provision of services. The need for intermediate and long term care facilities, small group homes or private homes is our greatest need in the fight for victim centered care and restoration.
You can help make a big difference in direct victim services by:
- Volunteering at one of our partner shelter organizations.
- Donate property or housing to be used as a group home.
- Provide apartment space for transitional living quarters.
- Assist us with camp/living space for emergency or intermediate care.
- Open your own home as a foster care site.
All individuals that assist with direct care of trafficking victims are required to undergo a background check, special needs training and continuing education.
