The first Human Trafficking Conference in Oklahoma will be in Tulsa at the Mabee Center, 81st & South Lewis on Thursday October 22, 2009. National speakers will be speaking about this growing global problem that has invaded our boarders and become a prominent criminal activity in all of our U.S. cities.
Theresa Flores will tell her own story of how she was trafficked as a sex slave while still attending high school, church and living at home. Ms. Flores' incredible story illustrates just how hidden this victimization is to the average person. What goes on behind closed doors and after hours in our communities is unimaginable... and must be exposed to rescue the children that are being exploited.
Specialist from the State Department, FBI, Federal Marshals, and local Law Enforcement Officers will be holding workshops to explain how to identify, investigate and prosecute these cases. Professionals in the fields of Psychology and Counseling will be holding workshops on indentifying victims and treatment systems. And the Director of Angel Eyes International and OATH Coalition will be holding workshops to identify what is happening right here in Oklahoma... how to identify victims, how to spot traffickers and recruiters and how we average citizens can become activist and help find these victims and get them to places of safety.
